SurveyMonkey Migration Guide

Use this guide when planning a SurveyMonkey move into BuoyForms. Current SurveyMonkey URL support is detection and triage only: the importer can identify a SurveyMonkey survey page and capture a survey id when present, but it does not import SurveyMonkey question fields from the hosted page.

Practical Migration Path

1. Inventory each SurveyMonkey survey you plan to replace.
2. Export question text, choices, and response data from SurveyMonkey.
3. Create a BuoyForms draft from a blank form or template.
4. Rebuild fields, pages, and conditional logic manually.
5. Apply a BuoyForms theme that matches the customer-facing experience.
6. Import or preserve historical response exports according to the customer handoff plan.
7. Validate the new form with a stakeholder before replacing the old link.

When to Use the URL Flow

Use the URL migration flow only as a triage step for SurveyMonkey. It can confirm that the page is SurveyMonkey and capture an obvious survey id, but it should not be treated as an automated import.

Review Checklist

• Confirm source survey ownership and export access.
• Save the original SurveyMonkey URL and survey id in migration notes.
• Rebuild each question and choice manually in BuoyForms.
• Recreate page breaks, branching, and thank-you behavior.
• Preserve historical response exports as customer evidence.
• Publish only after stakeholder UAT confirms the rebuilt form.
